SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, announced the successful treatment of a highly complex renal case at Madinat Zayed Hospital (MZH), reflecting the hospital’s clinical expertise and commitment to advanced, minimally invasive care.
The patient, a 52-year-old woman, was diagnosed with a large angiomyolipoma (AML) tumour in her right kidney, accompanied by multiple aneurysms and a high-flow arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Following a comprehensive assessment, the medical team developed an individualised treatment plan, in consultation with the patient, considering all available management options.
Through advanced interventional radiology techniques, the medical team successfully occluded the blood vessels supplying the AML via coil embolisation, while preserving the surrounding healthy renal tissue. Consequently, the patient was discharged in excellent condition, demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of this minimally invasive approach.
Dr. Hazem M. Almasarei, Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Madinat Zayed Hospital, said:“This accomplishment represents a strong demonstration of clinical expertise and precision. Interventional radiology offers patients less pain, fewer complications, and faster recovery compared with conventional surgical approaches, making it a highly effective solution for complex cases such as this.”
The achievement supports SEHA’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional, patient-centred care in the Al Dhafra, while strengthening Madinat Zayed Hospital’s role in integrating minimally invasive procedures supported by innovation and advanced medical technology.
